I DID IT!

When Jeremiah was about three years old, he was apparently spending a lot of early morning hours trying to climb out of his crib.  I was busy getting ready for work and the idea that my adorable toddler was in his room quietly trying to turn himself into a miniature escape artist never occurred to me.  That is until the morning that my bedroom door slammed against the wall and Jeremiah stood triumphant in the open door way.  "I DID IT!"  He crowed, smiling from ear to ear in his fuzzy feety pajamas.  "Did what?"  I asked with my mouth hanging open in shock.  Jeremiah proceeded to grab me by the hand and drag me to his room to explain that he had been trying and trying to get out of his crib and this morning, he did it!  Even though he was standing right there, and I hadn't gotten him out of the crib (so, clearly, he was telling the truth) I didn't believe him.  I put him right back in the crib and said, "Show me.  Do it again."  Which, he proceeded to do.  Grinning the whole time.  My baby was growing up!

Now, it's nearly ten years later.  That sweet little boy is thirteen years old.  The crib is in the basement and feety pajamas are a thing of the past.  His room is now a shrine to his greatest love: baseball.  He's in there right now watching tv and playing with his ipod at the same time.  Hanging with Mom is no longer on the list of cool things to do.  So, since I had some time on my hands I was stalking some of the adoption blogs I've become addicted to since we started the adoption process this summer (more about that later), and I thought, this can't be that hard. I'm going to try it.  One hour and fifty minutes later I yelled, "I DID IT!"  It wasn't much but I sure was proud that I had managed to put a background, a header, a Bible verse, and a picture on our brand new blog. "Did what?" Yelled Jeremiah from his room over the tv and the music from the ipod.   I yelled for him to come and take a look, and he said, "No way Mom, you did a blog?  Show me."  (Be sure to say that with disdain and disbelief in your voice for the full effect.)  So, I showed him.  Grinning the whole time.  Maybe Mom isn't so uncool after all! :)

So, consider this a cautionary tale.  Follow this blog at your own risk!  It took me almost two hours to get this far.  This doesn't speak well of my technological abilities.  Since I'm in charge and it has to do with technology, I'm bound to mess it up sooner or later.  Actually, knowing me, it will probably be sooner and later!  Also, I have a tendency to go on and on about things and to get sappy about stuff that means a lot to me, and occasionally I repeat myself.  Did I mention that I repeat myself?  But if you think you are tough enough to take it, please join us on our journey to bring home Jeremiah's baby sister!  We can't wait.
